Winter Warning on Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide alarmWintertime is an important time to make sure your carbon monoxide detector is in working order. There is an increased risk of incidents due to the fact that during winter your windows and doors are usually closed to conserve energy. This doesn’t allow gases like  to escape from your home. Carbon monoxide is called the silent killer. It’s a colorless and odorless gas, but the use of a properly installed and maintained carbon monoxide detector along with a properly ventilated home and a properly maintained heating system can prevent most cases of carbon monoxide poisoning. Please perform regular checks on your carbon monoxide detector. Do a test and battery check according to manufacturers recommendations at proper intervals. This can save your life, and the life of your loved ones. Have your heating system checked annually and your fire and carbon monoxide detectors regularly. Keep a set of fresh batteries available at all times.  Make this winter a warm and safe one. If you have questions call us.If your Carbon Monoxide detector alerts you contact the Fire Department.
